Patek Philippe made this watch in 1978. Nearly 50 years later, it has lost nothing.

The Geneva manufacturer- founded in 1839, never sold outside the Stern family, maker of some of the most valuable watches ever auctioned - produced this piece at the height of their golden era for jewellery watches. The case and bracelet are 18k (750) white gold, pavé-set with diamonds across the entire surface. The dial is lapis lazuli - that deep, celestial blue that has been prized since antiquity, ground into pigment by Renaissance masters, worn by pharoahs.

The combination of white diamond pavé against lapis lazuli is one of the most beautiful color pairings in watchmaking. Patek Philippe understood this, and executed it with the precision that has made their name synonymous with the very highest standards in horology.

There is a Patek Philippe saying that has become one of the most recognized lines in luxury: you never actually own a Patek Philippe, you merely look after it for the next generation. This piece is ready for its next guardian.
